Introduction

George Heriot’s School is an independent co-ed day school on Lauriston Place in the Old Town of Edinburgh, Scotland. Noted as the capital’s best performing school by Higher exam results, it caters for approximately 1600 pupils within beautiful buildings, some of which are fine examples of renaissance architecture. [1]

George Heriot’s Senior offers a broad education, aimed at equipping students with competitive knowledge in the areas of mathematics, science and technology, among others. Accordingly, leavers access prestigious selective universities and use their strong academic background to thrive.

Non-academically, the school is characterised by a varied offering, including everything from Amnesty International, Business Club and chess to Feminist Society, fencing and equestrian. CFF and the Duke of Edinburgh’s award are also available, maximising pupils’ leadership skills as they engage in challenging activities that boost healthy competition. [2]

Endeavouring to secure its eminence, George Heriot’s produces exceptional individual outcomes, which, in parallel with collective effort, foster a warm community where students are genuinely kind to each other.
