Introduction
Fully co-educational since 2010, Farringtons School is an independent day and boarding school in Kent. Its close proximity to the capital, modern facilities and progressive ethos secure excellent academic results, competitive on a national level. [1]
In the Senior division, both core and specialist teaching is on offer, underpinning a relevant provision of a broad curriculum that features technology, humanities, science, languages and a selection of further disciplines. Creative options are also provided, catering for pupils with strong affinities to dance, drama, music and photography, among others.
Co-curricularly, the school aims to meet varying interests and inspire better academic performance, hence it offers a thriving activities programme. Debating, swimming, netball, Enterprise Club and poetry are just some of its features, producing busy learners who engage in positive behaviour while developing their skills and expanding their potential. Working Open Morning takes place in November, familiarising prospective families with everything on offer through tours of facilities and meetings with staff. Farringtons School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
Registration for both day and boarding places includes a payment of a £100 registration fee. The online form can be accessed through the school’s website.
References and reports from your child’s current school play an important role in the admissions process. Their quality, alongside performance in the 11+ entrance examinations and interviews, determine whether or not an offer of a place is made.
Offer letters are posted in February and the acceptance deadline is set in March. Please note that acceptance includes a payment of a deposit, amounting to £1,000.
Farringtons School 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries
Candidates for Year 7 entry can apply for scholarships and bursaries. Scholarships can be valued at up to 30% of annual fees.
Reviewed annually, Academic awards are offered on the grounds of strong performance in entrance examinations and subsequent interviews. Music and Sports Scholarships are also available.
Bursaries should be applied for by ticking the appropriate box on the registration form. In the following weeks, the school will get in touch and commence the evaluation of your financial circumstances. The procedure may include a home visit. Results are communicated in early March.
Farringtons School 11 Plus (11+) Exam Format
The 11+ exam at Farringtons School consists of the following assessments:
- English
- Mathematics
- CEM Select
The English paper examines comprehension and writing skills, including inference, spelling, vocabulary and punctuation.
The maths exam assesses your child’s problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills. The paper will include questions on number, measurement, geometry, algebra and statistics.
CEM Select is an online test that examines skills in Verbal, Non-Verbal and Numerical Reasoning.
