Introduction

Clifton High School is an independent school in Clifton, Bristol. The school is the only one in the region to use the Diamond model, educating boys and girls together from Nursery to Year 6, then separately between Years 7 and 9, before combining again in Year 10.

The broad Senior School curriculum comprises biology, chemistry, physics, computing, mathematics, business studies, English, geography, history, MFL, Latin, art & design, design technology, drama & theatre studies, food & nutrition, music, physical education and PSHE.

After-class activities take place across over 100 clubs and societies, ranging from young contrarians, astronomy and animation to fencing, swimming and taekwondo.

Clifton High School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions

11+ registration forms, available on the school’s website, should be submitted by the deadline in December or the year preceding entry. Admission is conditional upon receipt of a copy of a recent current-school report; a formal meeting between you, your child and the Head, including an interview; a confidential reference from their current school and performance in entrance examinations.

To accept an offer of a place, you should return the completed acceptance form, pay the £495 deposit and sign the Parent Contract. The acceptance deposit will be retained by the school until your child leaves. It may then be refunded or used to help fund major capital projects and significant educational development, as well as scholarships and bursaries.

Clifton High School 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries

Scholarships are offered to selected candidates following the entrance examinations and interview with the Head. At 11+, the school awards Academic, Music and Sports Scholarships, typically ranging from 10% to 30%.

Assisted places are offered to pupils who demonstrate strong academic potential in the exam, but whose families are not able to pay full fees. They carry a value of up to 100% of school fees and may also provide help with uniform.
