Introduction
Clifton High School is an independent school in Clifton, Bristol. The school is the only one in the region to use the Diamond model, educating boys and girls together from Nursery to Year 6, then separately between Years 7 and 9, before combining again in Year 10.

Clifton High School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
11+ registration forms, available on the school’s website, should be submitted by the deadline in December or the year preceding entry. Admission is conditional upon receipt of a copy of a recent current-school report; a formal meeting between you, your child and the Head, including an interview; a confidential reference from their current school and performance in entrance examinations.
To accept an offer of a place, you should return the completed acceptance form, pay the £495 deposit and sign the Parent Contract. The acceptance deposit will be retained by the school until your child leaves. It may then be refunded or used to help fund major capital projects and significant educational development, as well as scholarships and bursaries.
Clifton High School 11 Plus (11+) Scholarships and Bursaries
Scholarships are offered to selected candidates following the entrance examinations and interview with the Head. At 11+, the school awards Academic, Music and Sports Scholarships, typically ranging from 10% to 30%.
Assisted places are offered to pupils who demonstrate strong academic potential in the exam, but whose families are not able to pay full fees. They carry a value of up to 100% of school fees and may also provide help with uniform.
Clifton High School 11 Plus (11+) Exam Format
The Clifton High School 11+ entrance examination consists of the following papers:

- Verbal Reasoning
- Non-Verbal Reasoning
The English paper examines both comprehension and writing skills, including inference, spelling, vocabulary and punctuation. Marks will be awarded for good use of imagination, creativity, form, purpose, organisation, cohesion and sentence structure.
The maths exam assesses your child’s problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills. The paper may include questions on number, measurement, geometry, algebra and statistics.
The Verbal Reasoning paper is primarily designed to test and assess logical thinking, use of English language and vocabulary.
The Non-Verbal Reasoning test measures the ability to understand, interpret and problem-solve, assessing logic and intelligence rather than knowledge.
