Introduction

Calday Grange Grammar School (CGGS) is a selective grammar school for boys, situated on Caldy Hill in Grange. Founded in 1636, it’s Wirral’s oldest surviving grammar school, educating a number of prominent alumni, including authors, athletes, scientists and a Victoria Cross recipient. [1]

Calday Grange Grammar School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions

Calday Grange admits pupils based on their performance in the 11 Plus exam. It’s worth noting, however, that good performance in the 11 Plus exam does not guarantee a place at the school. 

The 11 Plus exam follows the Quest Assessment exam format. In cases where there are more 11+ applicants than places available, the school will use its oversubscription criteria, giving priority to:

• Looked After or Previously Looked After children
• Children with social or medical reasons for applying to the school
• Recipients of Free School Meals
• Pupils whose sibling attends the school at the time of the application

How to Apply for 11 Plus (11+) Entry to Calday Grange Grammar School

An online registration portal for the 11+ exam can be accessed through the Local Authority page and applications should be submitted by the May deadline. You will also be asked to complete a preference form and send it to the Local Authority by the deadline in October, indicating in it your child’s preferred schools for admission.
