Beaconsfield High School 11 Plus (11+) Admissions

At Beaconsfield High School, admission to Year 7 is dependent on pupil performance in the 11 Plus Secondary Transfer Test (STT). The exam board for the test is GL Assessment. The STT is administered by Buckinghamshire County Council as part of its Coordinated Admissions Scheme.

As part of the admissions process, Beaconsfield High School encourages prospective families to visit the school ahead of taking the admissions test. Attending the open events will provide you and your daughter with the opportunity to see the facilities on offer and to meet members of staff.

As competition for Year 7 entry to the school is high, Beaconsfield High often uses its oversubscription criteria to allocate places. In instances where there are more successful applicants than available places, the school gives priority to:

• Looked After or previously Looked After Children
• Students who live within the school’s catchment area and are entitled to Free School Meals
• Students who live in the catchment area, have achieved a high score in the STT and are eligible for Pupil Premium
• Pupils who have a sister who already attends Beaconsfield High School and lives within the catchment area
• Daughters of staff at Beaconsfield High School
• Girls who live in the catchment area
• Girls with medical or social reasons for attending the school
• Sisters of Beaconsfield High pupils who live outside the catchment area
• Pupils who live outside the catchment area in order of distance from the school
  
  

Children in state funded Buckinghamshire primary schools will complete a Familiarisation booklet that they will be sent and take a Practice Test at their school before the actual exam. Children at Partner schools will also complete a Practice Test at their school. Other children will be given the opportunity to take the Practice Test at one of the grammar schools. Familiarisation booklets can be downloaded via the Buckinghamshire County Council website.

If your child doesn’t get the necessary score due to exceptional circumstances, you can request a Selection Review. A panel from the Local Authority will assess each case. Reviews are done before placements in Buckinghamshire grammar schools are decided.

How to Apply for 11 Plus (11+) Entry to Beaconsfield High School

Enrolment for the Secondary Transfer Test is automatic for children in state funded Buckinghamshire primary schools. For other children, registration should be completed via the Buckinghamshire County Council website by the June closing date.
