Introduction

Ardingly College is a selective co-educational boarding and day independent school near Ardingly, West Sussex. The school is a member of the Woodard Corporation of independent schools and is known for its strong Anglo-Catholic tradition.

Founded in 1858, Ardingly became fully co-educational in 1982. It’s regularly amongst the top ten International Baccalaureate (IB) schools in the UK and was awarded by the Royal Society of Chemistry in the Top of the Bench Competition. It is also the 29th most expensive Headmasters’ and Headmistresses’ Conference (HMC) day school.

The curriculum is both national and international due to the presence of overseas students from Europe and beyond. An IB Diploma is offered in addition to GCSEs, A-Levels and BTEC courses.

Ardingly is fully committed to the cause of offering the best education through the improvement of learning for able learners. Its membership in NACE (National Association for Able Children in Education) enables the teaching staff to provide high quality guidance, support and training, and thus attain the best from able learners in the classroom as they flourish and progress.

The extra-curricular programme comprises visits to local museums and other places of interest and includes overseas trips, as well. Recently, geography and Latin students visited Pompeii, linguists visited France and choristers travelled to Rome and Tuscany.

Pastoral care is adapted to each and every child so that they are happy and well-cared for. Every teacher treats pupils as individuals and each class has its form tutor who understands them, looking after their overall well being and academic progress, whilst maintaining constant communication with the parents.

When visiting the campus, people often notice older pupils being considerate and helpful towards the young ones and acting in full accordance with the school’s motto Beati mundo corde (Blessed are the pure in heart).
