Hampton School 10 Plus (10+) Advance Place Admissions
Boys will sit the 10+ Advance Place examination in the November of Year 5. Successful performance in the examination guarantees a place in the First Year (Year 7) at 11+.
The school offers approximately 35 places each year, welcoming applications from parents of boys attending primary schools and independent preparatory schools which finish at the end of Year 6.
The 10+ exam is intended for boys who feel that they are ready to sit a formal exam and thus wish to reduce the complexities and uncertainties of the 11+ assessments in Year 6.
The examinations assess English and mathematics skills. Places are offered approximately two weeks after the exam and acceptances should be made in March, along with a non-refundable deposit of £1,600. A 20 minute interview with a teaching staff member is also a part of the 10+ assessment process, taking place after the exam.
Boys who accept a 10+ Advance Place are not required to sit the 11+ entrance exam the following year unless they wish to apply for a scholarship or bursary. Those who decline the offer a place, or who are not successful in the 10+ exam, will be invited to sit the 11+ exam in the January of Year 6.
To register your son for the 10+ examination, please complete the online registration available on the school’s website. The registration fee covers both the 10+ and 11+ exams. The closing date for registration is in October. Places are awarded approximately two weeks after the exam.
Note that a reference from your son’s current school will also be requested.
Hampton School 10 Plus (10+) Advance Place Examination Format
