Introduction
Abingdon Preparatory School, also known as Abingdon Prep, is an independent school for boys in the rural setting of Frilford, near Abingdon, Oxfordshire. Among the leading Prep Schools in the country, Abingdon’s latest ISI report states that the pupils’ achievements both inside and outside the classroom are exceptional. [1]
The broad curriculum intellectually stimulates boys in the areas of art, CDT, English, French, geography, history, ICT, Latin, mathematics, music, RE and science.
Further boosting their cultural, creative and sporting abilities, the school offers an impressive range of over 100 clubs, workshops, exhibitions, productions and educational visits, along with LAMDA lessons, coding and athletics pursuits, among others.
Abingdon Prep strongly encourages boys’ participation in academic competitions, hence the most able are selected to represent the school in the Maths Challenge and Crest Science awards.

Abingdon Preparatory School 7 Plus (7+) Admissions
Initially, you are encouraged to contact the school to learn if there are places available. To formally apply for a place, you should register your son via their online registration system.
In the next stage of the admissions process, your child will be asked to come to the school to be assessed in the areas of numeracy and literacy (in February). He will be admitted on the grounds of performance in the examinations, as well as the quality of his current school references and reports.
To accept an offer, you will be asked to sign the parent contract and pay a non-refundable acceptance fee of £500.

The Abingdon Preparatory School 7 Plus (7+) exam consists of the following assessments:

The English assessment examines comprehension and writing skills, including spelling, punctuation and grammar, as well as the fluency of your child’s reading and his oral skills.
The Maths exam assesses your child’s problem-solving abilities and arithmetic skills, including his knowledge of times tables.
