Introduction
Abingdon Preparatory School, commonly referred to as Abingdon Prep, is a popular independent school located in the idyllic rural landscape of Frilford, near Abingdon in Oxfordshire. Abingdon Prep 11 Plus (11+) Admissions
If you are interested in enrolling your son at the school, you should get in touch with the admissions team at Abingdon School to see whether there are places available at Abingdon Prep. In the event of availability or possible future availability, you should proceed to register your son via the online registration form (by the start of October of Year 6) and pay the non-refundable registration fee of £150. Abingdon Prep is in a foundation with Abingdon School, meaning applications for Year 7 places go through Abingdon School Admissions, whether you are looking for a place at Abingdon Prep or Abingdon Senior School.
The 11+ exam is held in January of Year 6. Applicants who perform well in the exam and have a positive reference from their current school will be short-listed for an interview. If the interview goes well, an offer of a place will be made.
To accept an offer of a place, you should respond by the first working day in March. You will be asked to sign a parent contract and pay an acceptance fee, refunded at the end of your child’s last term at the school.

⦾ Verbal Reasoning – this module tests vocabulary and understanding of meaning in context.
⦾ Non-Verbal Reasoning – this module measures the ability to reason using shapes, space, diagrams and images.
⦾ Creative Comprehension – this module features multiple-choice questions based on various sources, such as texts, maps, diagrams, timetables and charts.
⦾ Puzzles & Problem Solving – this module includes interactive puzzles accompanied by some questions that require typed answers, as well as multiple-choice questions.
The descriptive writing paper is designed to evaluate a range of skills, including punctuation, grammar and spelling, alongside imagination and creativity. This assessment has a duration of approximately 25 minutes.
